How To Make A Website

Learning how to make a website can be a simple, enjoyable and rewarding process ..... or it can be an absolute nightmare which ends in frustration and disappointment.

So before you even get to things like negotiating a deal with a prospective website provider, there are certain questions you need to ask.

Knowing what to ask a prospective web developer is half the battle.

So what I want to do is share some of the things I ask before I go ahead with a hiring someone to develop a website.

  1. How long have they been in business?

  2. What is their track record like?

  3. What percentage of their sites are ranked in the top 3 percent, top 5 percent and top 10 percent of all websites?

  4. Don't let them fob you off. Any reputable company should be able to give you statistics which demonstrates their success.

  5. How much time and money will you have to spend on developing your website and maintaining it down the track? You want to be spending your time and money on developing your business not on your website.

  6. Does the solution you intend investing in have all the tools you require or will there be add-ons that you'll need to purchase at an additional cost?

  7. What kind of support and training materials are provided at no additional cost? Is there a community of users that you can tap into for support and help such as forums?
  8. This is particularly important especially when you're working from home and don't have anyone to bounce ideas off.

  9. Are you getting value for money? I have heard so many stories about people spending thousands of dollars on their website only to find that they aren't getting any traffic or that their website is like a bottomless pit with them having to continually invest more and more money into their website.

  10. And last, but not least, do they have any case studies that you can read or even better, would they give you contact details for a few customers so that you can get references before you make a decision.

Once you've got answers which satisfy you, you can then move onto the nitty gritting of how to make a website.
