About Lorna

The internet can be a scary place. If you're anything like me, you want to feel confident that you are dealing with someone who is credible and really knows what they're doing.

So I thought it would be a good idea to tell you a bit about myself, why I decided to start my own online business and what led me to developing this website.

I'm so fortunate to be living in one of the most beautiful cities in the world, Sydney, Australia. Even after living here for nearly 26 years I still marvel at its beauty.

The Famous Bondi Beach - My Favourite

I live in "suburbia", in easy reach of many of Sydney's fantastic beaches which is great as Sydney has wonderful beaches and I love going to the beach.

My Oldest Grandkids - Aren't They Gorgeous?

My greatest joy is spending time with my grandchildren. Being a grandparent is fantastic. It's much easier than being a parent! As a grandmother I'm more relaxed than I was as a mother!

Having them live nearby means that I can do all the things that grandparents normally do ... pick them up from school, have them sleep over and spoil them! All in all, I have 5 grandchildren.

I also enjoy any kind of craft. At the moment, I'm into scrapbooking, although the truth be told, this website has just taken over and so I haven't done much scrapbooking ... but there's hope. I'll be getting back to my scrapbooking in the not too distant future.

And of course, if there's something else I enjoy, that's travelling. We been fortunate to do quite a bit of travelling so far. But there are plans to do more. I have a travel plan. I've marked the map of the world with all the places I still want to visit, and am starting to put that in place. I am currently planning a trip to Italy, Hungary, Prague and Austria! I can't wait!

A Bit About My Professional Life

For more years than I care to remember, I worked in "Corporate Australia". I've also worked in the Middle East and South Africa, where I grew up.

I suppose the term "workaholic" was a term well-suited to me. I never imagined life without work and, in fact, my plan was to work full-time till retirement age (which is 65 in Australia) and then continue part-time.

But Life Has A Way Of Surprising You

Things don't always turn out the way you've planned. Cancer is what happened to our family. First our beautiful daughter was diagnosed with lymphoma at the age of 34. She passed away 7 months later leaving 2 small children.

18 months later I was diagnosed with breast cancer. While I was having treatment I continued working part-time .. but when this sort of thing happens to you, it makes you take stock of your life and re-evaluate your priorities.

I realised that my first priority was to myself and my family. I wanted to be around to see my grandchildren get married. And if you don't have your health, you're no good to anyone! So I made a life changing decision. I retired from work but that doesn't mean that I've retired from life!

I Discovered The Internet

Luckily for me (and I do mean that I am lucky), I had already discovered the internet and had started an online business.

I had spent of hours and hours glued to the compute, reading, learning and subscribing to numerous websites. My inbox was always jam-packed with everyone telling me how easy it is to make money online and that I won't have to do anything but just sit back and wait for the money to role in!

I suppose I was no different to thousands of people out there. I was naive and I believed many of those "get rich schemes". After wasting lots of time and substantial amounts of money, I was on the point of giving up on successfully starting an online business when I saw the light.

I blocked all those people who kept on bombarding me with hollow promises and I started focusing on the "real information". I even got myself a mentor which really helped. And most importantly ... I set goals and started focussing on what I really wanted.

Why Build A Website?

The idea of starting my own website was born after I helped a friend of mine with his own online business. Giving him the benefit of my hard-found knowledge and experience shortened his learning curve and helped him reach his goals quicker.

So, if I can do the same for you, then I'll be very happy.

Let Me Know How You Go

I'd love to hear from you. Tell me what you think of my site or any good (or bad) experiences you've had in relation to starting an online business.

Let me know what kind of information you're looking for and I'll do my best to add it to my website.
